Women's Training Day
Damo and Dave are running a training day for ACT women on 26 February at mPowerdome, starting at 10am. We would love to see not only all the girls who are coming to AFO, but also those girls who just want to improve their skills.
If you have any questions, contact us through the Facebook page or send Damo an email.

ACT Floorball
Floorball…
Innebandy…
Salibandy…
Ice hockey without the ice…
Indoor hockey with an ice hockey stick…
Whatever you wish to call it, this game is fun, fast and suitable for all ages and
ability levels.
Floorball is played indoors and year-round on a court surrounded by a knee-high
rink. The ball is very light, sticks are curved for both left- and right-handed
players and no additional equipment is required. For the full competition version
of the game, a team plays with five players plus a goalkeeper on the court at a
time. For more information about what Floorball is and how it is played,
Every week in Canberra, there are social competition nights for both mens and mixed
teams. Canberra’s social competitions are played with four players from each team
on the court at any time (with at least one female on the court in the mixed games)
and no goalkeeper. There are sticks that may be borrowed for each game at the venue.
If you would like to know more about where to play, click
here.
There are also training sessions that are open to all players, from those who would
like to pick up some more skills to those who are interested in traveling with
the ACT men’s and women’s teams for competitions. Times for upcoming training sessions
are in the column to the left.
To keep up with the latest from players and teams check out the ACT Floorball Facebook Group.
ACT Floorball Association
The ACTFA is the organising committee for Floorball within Canberra. It consists
of a group of dedicated players with a vision to growing the awareness, player base,
and ability level of Floorball in the ACT.
The ACTFA organises men’s and women’s teams to participate in the Northern Beaches
Open and the Australian Floorball Open annually at the club level, as well as training
sessions locally.
Please feel free to browse our site, contact us with
any questions or queries, and come down for a run. It's the aim of the ACTFA to
bring as many people as we can onto the court, as we want to share our fun and fabulous
sport with everyone (if only so we don’t have so many blank stares when we say “I
play Floorball”).
Current News
Two training days have been organised for ACT players who would like to focus on the development of their 5v5 game. These days will include two 1.5 hour court sessions and a tactics session, conducted in a classroom environment. These training sessions will be vital for players wishing to come to AFO and future tournaments with the ACT team. The cost will be $20 per player and training will be conducted by the current ACTFA coach Damien "MasterChief" Hansen, and Men's team captain and Australian representative Dave "Q" Speldewinde.
Training for the Women's team is 26 February and the Men's team is 11 March. Both training days will be held at MPowerdome and start at 1000, and finish at 1530, with a lunch break in the middle. The cost per person is $20. If you plan to attend or have any questions please contact Damo at President@ACTFloorball.org.au.
We have had good numbers attending training to start the year. Damo has been running a varied training plan, mixing new skills in with fun games and challenging all players.
We invite everyone to come to training, from first-timers to old hands, to take the rust off some old moves or pick up some new ones. Come try it - first training is free.
The Northern Beaches Floorball Summer Party was a huge success, with 2 Canberra teams making it to the quarter finals. All the details can be found on the Northern Beaches website
